Costa Smeralda® non è un toponimo ma il nome che riunisce e definisce solo i territori delle proprietà associate al Consorzio Costa Smeralda. L’area geografica gestita dal Consorzio si trova in Gallura, nel nord-est della Sardegna, ed è delimitata da un confine simbolico costituito da due rocce di granito, che recano il nome Costa Smeralda®: una a sud, sulla strada panoramica che viene da Olbia, dopo la località Portisco, l’altra a nord, subito dopo la località Liscia di Vacca, sulla strada per Baja Sardinia. I territori appartenenti al Consorzio Costa Smeralda sono distribuiti su un’area non omogenea di circa 3.500 ettari che interessa i comuni di Arzachena e di Olbia con un’estensione costiera di circa 55 km.

The iconic Villas Jacques Couëlle in Monti Mannu h

The iconic Villas Jacques Couëlle in Monti Mannu have been officially assigned to the Municipality of Arzachena and are set to host the first Museum of Costa Smeralda, as part of the redevelopment project promoted by the local Administration.

Designed in the 1960s by French architect Jacques Couëlle, the villas remain among the most authentic expressions of the vision that shaped Costa Smeralda — where architecture, nature and landscape exist in perfect harmony.

A place of extraordinary architectural and symbolic value is being returned to the community and entrusted to a project dedicated to preserving, celebrating and sharing the unique cultural identity and story of Costa Smeralda.

The future museum will become a new cultural landmark, telling the extraordinary story of Costa Smeralda and preserving its legacy for generations to come.

The first days of Smeralda Holding Blue Days 2026

The first days of Smeralda Holding Blue Days 2026 have successfully brought together institutions, volunteers and young generations in a shared commitment to protecting the marine environment.

From the coastal clean-up at Liscia Ruja to an immersive educational experience for over 130 children exploring the wonders of the sea, each initiative reflects a clear vision: safeguarding the natural heritage of Costa Smeralda® through concrete action and awareness.

Organised by Smeralda Holding within the AgendaBLU 2026 programme of the Municipality of Arzachena, the project continues to promote sustainability, education and community engagement.

The journey continues on 16 May, with the seabed clean-up at Porto Cervo Marina.

PORTO CERVO MARINA: A BENCHMARK FOR ESG EXCELLENCE

Porto Cervo Marina — the prestigious yachting destination in the heart of Costa Smeralda® — has officially obtained the Porto Sostenibile® certification and ESG Sustainability Labels. This internationally recognised achievement confirms compliance with the highest environmental, social and governance standards, validated by third-party accreditation body DNV according to ISO 17029 FidESG® and ISO 17033 / UNI PdR 102 protocols.

With 600 berths and capacity for yachts up to 160 metres, Porto Cervo Marina attracts over 60% international clientele who, on average, stay 30 days. But beyond luxury, this is a port leading by example.

From efficient waste management and environmental education programmes for children, to initiatives with local schools, supplier sustainability protocols and mobile systems for safe wastewater collection — this is a living model of how a modern marina can actively preserve its coastal ecosystem.

As Mario Ferraro, CEO of Smeralda Holding, explains: “Our responsibility, working in the tourism sector, is to be the best possible guest of our planet. Adhering to the Porto Sostenibile® protocol is part of a responsible development path that strengthens the bond between the port, our guests, and the local community. The certification also validates the Marina’s long-term ESG strategy and sustainability reporting, aligned with Smeralda Holding’s ESG Manifesto — itself an expression of Qatar Investment Authority’s long-term vision for the Costa Smeralda®.

The 2025 impact?
Over €700,000 invested in environmental, social and cultural projects, including the Smeralda Holding Blue Day, and hosting the Sardinian stop of the Blue Marina Awards, which honoured Porto Cervo Marina — for the third consecutive year — among Italy’s most advanced Superyacht Marinas.
